Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained: Taking the Leap 🤍
“Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”
It’s one of the biggest mottos I live by.
I’ve always believed that nothing changes if you spend your life worrying about every possible worst-case scenario. Sometimes, you just have to take a leap of faith, trust yourself and see where it takes you.
And that’s exactly what I’ve decided to do.
Make a pretty big decision…
If you know me, you’ll know life has been busy.
Alongside working at RUTE Clinic as an aesthetics practitioner, I currently work 30 hours a week for the NHS in acute medicine. I’m also completing my teaching qualifications, working towards my prescribing qualification, whilst trying to maintain a social life, spend time with family and occasionally have time to breathe!
I’ve loved working in acute medicine and I’m incredibly grateful for the experience, knowledge, challenges and, most importantly, the people I’ve met along the way.
But trying to do everything simply isn’t sustainable.
So, I’ve made a pretty big decision…
I’ve handed in my notice with the NHS.
And yes… it absolutely terrifies me!
There’s something very comforting about the security of an NHS job, so walking away from that stability is a huge step. I’ve definitely had moments of “WHAT AM I DOING?!”
But alongside the nerves, there’s a huge amount of excitement.
I’ve reached a point where I want to give RUTE Clinic the time and energy it deserves. I want to accommodate more of you, welcome new patients, continue developing my skills and really see where I can take the clinic.
And I’m so excited to see what this next chapter brings.
I’m not saying goodbye to nursing…
If you’re a nurse, you’ll probably understand when I say that once nursing gets into your blood, it never really leaves.
I don’t think I could completely close that door — and honestly, I don’t want to.
I’ve worked in my department for two and a half years all together, and it’s not just the nursing I’ll miss. It’s the team, the friendships, the laughs, the difficult shifts and all the memories in between.
So instead of saying goodbye completely, I’ll be joining the NHS Bank on a zero-hour basis.
This means I can continue working as an NHS nurse when my schedule allows, maintain my skills and stay connected to a profession I genuinely love, while having the flexibility to focus on RUTE Clinic.
For me, it feels like the best of both worlds.
And then… I’m off to Australia! 🇦🇺
Because apparently handing in my notice wasn’t enough of a leap of faith…
Before I officially become a full-time aesthetics practitioner, I’m taking four weeks out of clinic to travel the East Coast of Australia — alone!
Much to my mum’s absolute delight! 😂
It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and if I’m going to embrace the “nothing ventured, nothing gained”philosophy, I may as well really commit to it!
A little reminder about clinic dates
If you’re planning your treatments over the next couple of months, please take note:
📅 Last clinic day before Australia: Friday 25th September
📅 First day back in clinic: Tuesday 10th November
If you’re due a treatment, review or have been thinking about booking, please don’t leave it until the last minute, as my availability before I go will be limited.
A new chapter me at RUTE Clinic
This feels like the beginning of a really exciting chapter for me — both personally and professionally.
It’s scary, exciting and definitely a big change, but I’ve learnt that if you wait until you feel 100% ready, you might never take the leap.
So I’m choosing to be brave, take the risk and see what happens.
I’m incredibly grateful to every person who has supported me, trusted me with their treatments, recommended me to friends and family, followed my journey and watched RUTE Clinic grow.
Going full-time with the clinic is something I’ve dreamed about, and I genuinely cannot wait to see what the future holds.
So here’s to new beginnings, taking chances and doing things that scare us…
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. 🤍
Thank you for being part of the journey.
See you in clinic before I jet off — or when I’m back from Australia!✈️
